This project integrates user rating features to improve article relevance, boost engagement, and refine content quality based on user feedback.

1. The challenge: making articles more useful for readers

With over 60,000 articles in the Health Corner category, the website had become a vast health information resource. However, engagement data told a different story—some articles were outdated, too complex, or poorly structured. Readers struggled to find useful information, and the content team had no clear way to identify which articles needed improvement.

Users needed a way to signal whether an article was helpful, and the content team needed insights to refine and optimize content.

 How can we enable users to rate articles effectively, helping the content team improve quality and engagement?

Implement a simple, intuitive rating system for users to assess article usefulness.

Provide the content team with actionable insights on which articles need improvement.

2. Understanding the problem: why users weren’t engaging

Readers had no way to provide feedback, making it difficult to assess content value.

Some articles were outdated or poorly structured, leading to low engagement.

The content team lacked clear metrics beyond basic traffic numbers to evaluate article performance.

Competitor analysis: what worked and what didn’t

We examined direct and indirect competitors, including Tuổi Trẻ, Vietcetera, and Điện Máy Xanh.

Best practices from successful platforms:

 Allowed users to rate and comment, providing valuable qualitative feedback.

 Integrated article ratings in a non-intrusive way.

 Displayed ratings prominently to help users gauge article usefulness.

Overly complex rating systems that discouraged participation.

Feedback features buried too deep within the page, leading to low visibility.

Lack of clarity on how ratings were used to improve content.

Simplicity drives engagement—users won’t interact with a complicated system.

Feedback should be easy to give and visible.

Content teams need structured insights to make meaningful improvements.

After analyzing competitors, we designed three user flows evaluate before proceeding with UI design.

How can we design a rating system that is effortless for users and valuable for the content team?

We considered three options for collecting user ratings:

Option 1: Satisfaction/dissatisfaction assessment

Simple yes/no question, easy for users to respond quickly.

Helps collect specific reasons for dissatisfaction.

Provides structured feedback for optimization.

Users might skip the survey if it feels time-consuming.

More steps required to complete feedback.

Users are familiar with the 5-star rating system.

Allows for nuanced feedback beyond yes/no.

Users might leave a rating without providing detailed feedback.

Requires additional effort to collect meaningful insights.

Fastest and easiest experience (one tap).

Users are familiar with reactions from social media.

Collects both positive and negative sentiments naturally.

Less structured feedback, making it harder to analyze reasons for dissatisfaction.

Might not provide enough details for improvement decisions.

 Easy to analyze trends and sentiment patterns.

Option 3 maximizes engagement while maintaining ease of use. Deeper insights can be gathered through occasional surveys.

We designed a clear, accessible rating section featuring:

Reaction-based feedback with simple, recognizable icons.

An optional text box for additional user comments.

A structured backend to track ratings and identify content improvement areas.

We conducted usability tests to refine the system before launch. Key insights included:

Users preferred reaction-based feedback over other methods.

Ratings needed to be visible but not intrusive.

The content team required summary dashboards to track trends over time.

5. The results: better insights, better content

The new rating system improved both user engagement and content evaluation. While specific metrics remain confidential, we observed:
